Publlic Administration

This senior-only dual-enrollment course is offered through a partnership with Joliet Junior College and will be held at the JJC Main Campus in Joliet, IL. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the main campus. Good attendance is crucial for college success. This program is recommended for students with a strong interest in public service and administration.

PSCI 100 Introduction to Political Science: This course examines the primary fields of political science, focusing on the nature and development of the discipline.

PSCI 101 Introduction to the Structure, Principles, Processes, and Problems of American Government: This course examines American government and contemporary political issues, including the impact of foreign policy, dissent, civil rights, and economic issues on American politics.

PSCI 102 American State/Local Government: This course surveys the structures, functions, and dynamics of state and local governments, giving students an understanding of governmental processes and public administration at the state and local levels.

HUS 103 Role of the Advocate: This course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to assess and analyze policies and identify the needs of clients and client groups within the human services professions. Students will explore the role of advocacy and its application within public and human service settings.

Together, these courses provide students with college-level instruction in public administration, political science, American government, state and local governance, advocacy, and human services, while preparing them for continued studies and careers in public service, law, and government.

Students are required to provide their own transportation to and from class at Joliet Junior College (JJC) Main Campus, Joliet. A JJC registration application for the program is required.
